VASCO: Environment Minister Nilesh Cabral on Tuesday said he visited the Mormugao Deputy Collector’s office to discuss and seek advice on Railways Act for a road near the underpass to connect the main route.
He said the purpose of his visit was also to seek consent of his constituents.

The minister said, “CZMP will not show houses as it focuses on the following factors namely hazardous line, high tide line, sand dunes and eco-sensitive areas.”
He said, “Somebody is misleading the people and they believe in such things, which I cannot help. After the DC notifies which area existed before 1991, it needs to be shown in the plan. This is the secondary process and will happen subsequently. I fail to understand why there are apprehensions among people.”
When asked whether people are confusing the CZMP issue with MPT Port Limits, Cabral said, “MPT jurisdiction was defined several decades ago. There are two port areas — one is MPT and another is Captain of Ports. Whenever it is marked as port area, I have raised objections and have suggested that one should define whether it is Panjim Port or Mormugao Port. As Environment Minister, I have already made it clear that once the final draft is ready it will show these areas as MPT and Panjim Port which I am following up.”
On the purpose of his visit to the Deputy Collector’s office, the minister said in his constituency the existing underpass requires a new road directly connecting the main one. Few days ago as per the Railways Act it has been implemented for land acquisition, so people have approached him lending their support for development.
