PORVORIM: Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar stated that the State government will construct a new bridge across Mandovi River with its own funds, but for the construction of additional bridge over Zuari and development of infrastructures, the State needs at least Rs 5,000 crore.
Parrikar was speaking at a public meeting organised by Aldona BJP Mandal at Communidade hall, Mapusa, on Sunday.
“If BJP comes to power at the Centre, the State can get big economic package, due to which people should elect both the BJP candidates,” said Parrikar.
“Justice M B Shah Commission was appointed by Congress, environment clearance licenses were suspended by former Congress minister Jayanti Natarajan after having a meeting with former State Congress president Subhash Shirodkar and Vishwajeet Rane,” he stated.
“The Congress leaders have now become frustrated and are making false allegations that I suspended mining, which is a blatant lie. Despite suffering loss due to closure of mining activities, BJP launched several new social schemes and fulfilled most of the assurances given to the people during the assembly elections,” said Parrikar.
Deputy Chief Minister Francis D’Souza said BJP workers are its real strength and they work selflessly, due to which BJP could secure absolute majority during the last elections in Goa.
“During every election, Congress alleges that BJP is a communal party. In fact, there are six Catholics MLAs, seven OBC MLAs and MLAs of other communities in BJP which goes to prove that BJP is most secular party,” said D’Souza.
Shripad Naik said the social schemes launched by BJP are meant for people of all religions, caste and creed. “Schemes like Girah Adhar, Ladli Laxmi have been devised to provide relief to the common man. If BJP booth workers becomes active and work relentlessly for the next 10 days, then nobody can stop BJP from winning both the seats in Goa,” said Naik.
Aldona MLA Glen Ticlo said during last assembly election, they got maximum votes in 36 booths out of 41 and appealed to booth workers to work hard and ensure that BJP candidate Shripad Naik gets maximum votes in all the 41 booths, so that he get a lead of 16,000 votes in Aldona constituency.
Earlier, speaking at Bicholim on Thursday, Parrikar said the party has a target of 2.5 lakh votes in North Goa.
Parrikar was speaking at a meeting organised by Bicholim Block committee for the booth level workers.
“We will come out with surprising results and will get a lead even in some quarters of South Goa,” said Parrikar.
“In Bicholim, we have set a target of about 15,000 votes. We have target of 2.5 lakh votes in North Goa, while in South Goa our target is about 2.20 lakh,” he said.
“People will vote for us not just because the Congress is corrupt, but because of the work that we have done in the State. The criteria of voting for BJP is not why the other party is bad, but how we have managed our minimum resources and brought about development and given benefits to the public,” added Parrikar.
He further said the Congress has no candidate who can contest against BJP in the State and at the Centre. “They were searching for candidates in Goa and also candidate to contest against Narendra Modi at the Centre,” said Parrikar.
Irani came down heavily on the Central government for corruption and misgovernance. “At the international level, there was just a 3 per cent increase in prices, but in India it rose manifold. Now, there is a change that is coming about not just politically but also in the mindset of the voters who are all supporting Modi as the prime ministerial candidate,” she said.
Dr Sawant spoke about various schemes launched by the government and asked party workers to bring about awareness among the masses. Art and Culture Minister Mandrekar and Shripad Naik also spoke on the occasion.
