VASCO: Reiterating that a quarantine centre proposed at Harbour would not be allowed, Urban Development Minister Milind Naik has clarified that the statement issued by the Mormugao Block BJP on the subject was a mistake.
“As a Cabinet minister and MLA from Mormugao, I sincerely appeal to all the people not to make politics out of Coronavirus issue because it is now a pandemic. After there was news that affected passengers would be brought to Mormugao, we have taken the necessary steps; and I personally went to the Deputy Collector and initiated action and got the order (for setting up a quarantine unit) cancelled by evenings on the same day for the betterment of the residents of Mormugao Constituency,” he said.
Naik also apologised to people on the behalf of the Mormugao BJP for issuing incorrect statement on setting up a quarantine unit.
Naik urged people to follow and support the Janata Curfew on Sunday by staying back at homes, maintaining social distance, and following the guidelines to stop the spread of this disease.
