CALANGUTE: Calangute MLA Michael Lobo swung into action and removed the empty barrels which acted as dividers at Circle of Dreams, Nagoa and got the works started immediately following a report in Herald on Monday.
The contractor too began filling the potholes and tarring the edges of the road in the presence of Lobo and Arpora Panchayat members besides GSIDC officials and others. Lobo personally supervised the patching work of potholes, which posed danger to motorists and others and assured to complete the Circle of Dreams project by December 10.
The contractor began the work on the Circle of Dreams project by deploying heavy machinery and manual labourers in large numbers to complete the remaining works. Lobo directed the contractor to fill the potholes and complete the pending works on the footpath without any further delay.
Lobo supervised the works for more than 2 hours along with Arpora-Nagoa Panchayat members Sakharam Naik, Joseph Fernandes, Roshan Redkar, Agostinho D’Souza, Cleophas Fernandes, besides ex-panchas Srikrishna Nagvekar and Mahesh Korgaonkar. The GSIDC officials and Electricity department assistant engineer Joseph Fernandes were also present at the site.
Lobo requested Fernandes to immediately take up shifting of electrical poles on the road widening areas.
Speaking to Herald, Lobo said, “It was a good impact by Herald which gave pace to the pending works to the Circle of Dreams project at Nagoa. I have directed the GSIDC, PWD and electricity officials to immediately complete all the pending works.”
“The Electricity Department has been assured a financial package of Rs 31 lakh by GSIDC to complete the shifting of electrical poles. We will be spending more than Rs 1.50 crore on execution of all the works and completion of Circle of Dreams project which will be free of encroachments and parking, etc.”
