PANJIM: Goa’s Anura Prabhu Desai entered the quarter-finals of the Women’s singles and Women’s doubles at the 80th Senior National Badminton championships, in Chandigarh, recently.
She beat Gauri Asija (19-21, 21-12, 21-7), Sanchali Dasgupta (21-13 21-12) and Riya Pillai (21-19, 19-21, 21-16) to reach the Women’s singles quarters. Anura along with her partner Shruti Mundada defeated Juhi Dewangan and Pramada (21-16, 21-17) and Riya Mookerjee and Karishma Wadkar (18-21, 21-17, 21-14) to reach quarters of Women’s doubles. She will now be playing against first seed Tanvi Lad in singles and first seed pair of Pradnya Gadre and Sikki Reddy in the doubles event. Anura is representing Air India.
