“We never saw the early losses as setbacks. Once we learned to finish stronger, there was no looking back,” Mazumdar said. “The ripple effect of this victory will shape women’s cricket for generations. It’s a watershed moment — the belief, the discipline, and the hard work of these players have inspired millions.”

Smriti Mandhana calls it an unreal moment

“I don’t know how to react to that, it’s still sinking in,” Mandhana said right after the victory. “I haven’t been emotional on the cricket field. But yeah, it’s just a very unreal moment — a home World Cup and just to read that we are champions, I still can’t process it.”

Pratika Rawal overwhelmed after India’s triumph

Watching from the sidelines, injured star Pratika Rawal could barely contain her emotions.

“It was harder to watch than to play. Every wicket gave me goosebumps. The whole of India deserves this,” she said, draped in the tricolour. “We actually did it — the first Indian women’s team to win the World Cup! I’m just so proud to be part of this group.”

Amanjot Kaur dedicates victory to injured Pratika Rawal

All-rounder Amanjot Kaur, who pulled off a brilliant run-out of Tazmin Brits and a sharp catch to dismiss Laura Wolvaardt, dedicated the victory to Pratika.

“This is for Pratika. We’re just getting started — we’ll take it to the next level,” Amanjot said on JioHotstar.

Richa Ghosh says it’s just the start

Finisher Richa Ghosh said the win meant everything to the team.

“We gave it all — our energy, our last bit of strength. We played for each other. This is just the start,” she said with pride.
