MAPUSA: Goa colts played aggressively to trounce Arunachal Pradesh by a commanding 9-2 margin in the Khelo India Beach Soccer tournament, held at Diu, on Wednesday.
Pedro Gonsalves stole the limelight with a brilliant hat-trick, leading Goa’s dominant display. Satish Naik netted a brace, while Latish Kunkolkar converted from the penalty spot to further extend Goa’s advantage.
As the match progressed, Abel Gurjao, Pawan Naik and Pradeep Bind also added their names to the scorers’ list, underlining Goa’s all-round attacking performance.
For Arunachal Pradesh, Pill Takar scored both goals in an otherwise difficult outing for his side.
Earlier, in their first match of the tournament, Goa were awarded a walkover after the Andaman and Nicobar team failed to report for the fixture.
Speaking after the match, Goa head coach Bruno Coutinho said, “We have made a team with just what players were available for us and who came to play from their hearts for the love and desire of the game.”
