Over 300 participants from all over the world including India, competed in the grand event.
In the final match, Miles won the title against a Japanese competitor, senior to him and who displayed his skill using two swords.
After an impended six minutes all the five judges voted Miles as the new champion.
IAIDO is a traditional Japanese martial art form which originated in 1500 AD.
The term translates as the way of mental presence and immediate reaction to draw the sword instantly. It encompasses hundreds of swordsmanship styles, all of which subscribe to non combative aims and purposes.
IAIDO is a reflection of the classical warrior’s moral to build a spiritually harmonious person possessing high intellect, sensitive and resolute will.
Miles has studied and trained in this martial art under the guidance of Sensei Ryugen Hashimoto, of Mugai Ryu, in Tokyo.
Born and brought up in the scenic village of Parra, 21-year-old Miles is currently in his final year of graduation in Performing Arts, at the FLAME University, Pune.
As his mother’s ancestors were Samurai warriors, he started showing interest in this martial art and he believes that IAIDO will help him build a strong moral character, body and mind, which will facilitate him in his acting career.
