Lawyer Challengers, Lotlikar Lions register wins

VASCO: Lawyer Challengers delivered a dominant batting display to defeat Legal Titans by 48 runs, while Lotlikar Lions held their nerve to edge past Risers in a tense finish in the Advocates Cricket League matches played at the Chicalim ground, Vasco.
Batting first, Lawyer Challengers piled up an imposing 206 for 4 in their 20 overs. Achit Shigwan led the charge with a fluent 74, ably supported by an aggressive 69 from Vrusaj Talaulikar. Dattaprasad Shirodkar added a useful 33 as the Challengers also benefited from 22 runs in extras. For Legal Titans, Prasad Vaigankar (1/27), Jeevan Divkar (1/25) and Satchit Mauskar (1/45) were among the wicket-takers.
In reply, Legal Titans were restricted to 158 for 9 despite fighting contributions from Satchit Mauskar (34), Pravin Gawas (25), Kyle Ticlo (22) and Kanhaiya (22). Achit Shigwan completed a fine all-round effort with figures of 2 for 23, while Iftikhar Agha (2/35) and Harsh Mashelkar (2/22) provided strong support as Lawyer Challengers sealed a comfortable victory.
In the second match, Lotlikar Lions chased down the target in the final over to register a narrow win against Risers. Batting first, Risers posted 162 for 9 in 20 overs, with Dattaraj Arondekar (44), Abhinav Marathe (34) and Rohit Dessai (30) leading the scoring. Vaibhav Bandekar was the standout bowler, claiming 5 for 32, while Kunal Naik Gaonkar, Pankaj Naik and Gajanan Korgaonkar picked up a wicket apiece.
Lotlikar Lions replied with a composed chase to reach 163 for 6 in 19.5 overs. Sandeep D’Melo anchored the innings with a match-winning 51, with Pankaj Naik (33) and Venkatesh Rathod (16) lending support. For Risers, Pritesh Shetty (2/18) and Harsh Parekh (2/32) attempted to stem the flow, but the Lions held firm.
A decisive six by Gajanan Korgaonkar off Abhishek Dhawaskar in the final over proved the turning point.
After Wednesday’s matches, 18 Juners lead the standings with six points, followed by United Brothers (four), Lawyer Challengers, Risers and Lotlikar Lions (two each), with Legal Titans yet to open their account.
