MAPUSA: Penha de Franca had to wait until the sudden-death to get past CAC, Cansaulim 9-8 and enter the semi-finals of 8th Reira Soccer tournament organized by Saligao Sporting Club at Saligao ground, Sunday. The teams were locked 1-1 at full time.
Cansaulim maintained tremendous pressure on their opponents in the initial stages which saw Penha de Franca’s Devendra Kauthankar scoring an own goal in the seventh minute. However, Clive Fernandes equalized in the 25th minute and thereafter the teams were evenly matched. In the penalty shoot-out, Raju, Akshay, Amar, Siddesh, Naved, Maurice, Pundalik and Suddesh scored for Penha de Franca while Chadwick, Malcom, Parshuram, Brian, Alvino, Shaushuddin, Heston and Maverick converted for Cansaulim.
