Goa Pavilion bags award for excellence at trade fair

PANJIM: The Goa Pavillion bagged the Special Commendation Medal for “Excellence in Display” at the 33rd India International Trade Fair, which concluded at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi today. The award was presented by Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Dr Farooque Abdulha at a function held at Shakuntalam Theatre, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi today morning.  
Santosh Humaraskar, representative of the Department of Information & Publicity received the award. The Goa Pavillion which was set up on an area of 246 Sq mts in Hall No 6 at Pragati Maidan was aesthetically designed by the Agency M/s Vinsan Graphics, Vasco depicting the typical Goan traditional architecture and modern elements.
The India International Trade Fair, a mega annual event commenced on November 14, with the theme “Inclusive Growth”.  
Besides, the Department of Information & Publicity which was the nodal agency for the participation of Goa State in IITF, other Departments and Corporations such as Department of Tourism and Industries, Goa Tourism Development Corporation and Goa Handicrafts Corporation participated in the 14-day event.
It may be noted that every year Goa participates in the IITF with the objective to promote Goa as an international tourist destination and boost industrial growth and investment and to project Goa’s rich cultural heritage, cuisine and hospitality. 
The award presentation ceremony was also attended by Rita Menon, Chairperson, ITPO, S V Rao, Secretary Commerce and Dalel Singh, General Manager, ITPO.
