Parents can park 2-wheelers near Margao police station

Demand 40-odd vacancies in Margao Traffic Cell be filled immediately

MARGAO: The Margao Municipal Council (MMC) has cleared an area in front of the police station for two-wheeler parking, providing relief to parents of school children.
Parents have now demanded that the 40-odd vacancies in the Margao Traffic Cell be filled immediately to ensure proper regulation of traffic.
They have been working with police to curtail the traffic problems faced by Margao locals daily and had even met the Margao SP and Dy SP over the same. On Saturday, they jointly inspected the demarcated area, where parents can park their vehicles while picking or dropping children from four local schools.
“The problem area is opposite the Fatima Convent School gate. Parents have decided to write to the District Magistrate to re-notify one-way parking there for the benefit of the parents,” said local Dixon Vaz, adding, “The lack of staff at the Traffic Cell is unacceptable. We request the government to fill the vacancies.”
Margao parent-teacher associations also formed a committee to monitor the situation.
