PANJIM: Goa Police will soon induct a 15-metre boat for coastal security and patrolling in the State.

The Goa Police have also requested for new coastal policing jetties, pontoon boats and drones for surveillance. Goa Police were represented by Superintendent of Police (SP), Coastal Security Raju Raut Desai, Police Inspector Rahul Parab and Police Sub Inspector (PSI) Elvis Barbosa attended a seminar on the topic “Emerging Challenges for Coastal Policing and Way Forward”, organised by the Bureau of Police Research and Development, Ministry of Home Affairs, New Delhi, in Delhi.
SP Raut Desai spoke on the experience, achievements; having new Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs) for coastal security and other infrastructural requirements of Goa as far as coastal security is concerned.
“We have asked for coastal policing jetties, pontoon boats and drones for securing the coastal belt of the State. There was a discussion for having new SOPs for coastal security,” he said.
The seminar was attended by the Ministry of Home Affairs, National Maritime Security Coordination, Intelligence Bureau, Central Armed Police Forces and all the coastal States and Union Territories.
