PANJIM: Goa Arts and Literature Festival (GALF) has come of age with over 100 delegates from outside India attending the festival that began on Thursday.
The sixth edition of GALF, organised by The International Centre of Goa, was inaugurated at Maquinez Palace and had renowned poet Keki Daruwala and bookmaker working with photos Dayanita Singh as the main guests.
Daruwala and Singh called on youth photographers, writers and artists to have a good base in education and develop a strong life experience as the field needs these qualities to enhance one’s work.
GALF appreciated the openings of new art galleries in the State and also applauded writers, artists, and other people involved in the arts and literature field for their work. They also unveiled a piece of art that made peace with the culture of Goa, in minute transitions.
GALF took pride of announcing its success of the past years and stated that the festival has been getting more renowned and stated that this year there are 100 delegates from outside India attending the festival, resulting in continuing and strengthening ties between India and countries like Singapore and Bangladesh through art and literature.
At a later session, historian Ramchandra Guha was in conversation with Naresh Fernandes on Ways of Belonging: India 2015.
The festival is expected to be a soothing experience cheering the freedom of expression in all ways possible. It will go on till Sunday, with workshops at Goa University and other colleges.
