PORVORIM: Some members of Serula Comunidade and like-minded people have demanded arrest of the accused in Serula Comunidade land grab scam, on Monday.

Serula Comunidade Treasurer Purushottam Shirodkar said that there is threat to the lives of the people who have raised voice against this scam and are demanding protection.
It can be recalled that Enforcement Directorate (ED) had recently swooped on the residences of Rajesh Verenkar and Agnelo Lobo confiscating several incriminating documents related to the scam, which runs into crores of rupees.
Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte and Congress Curtorim MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco had also exposed this scam on the floor of the Assembly session.
Shirodkar alleged that the members of Serula Comunidade who voiced out against the scam were threatened by Verenkar when an illegal construction was stopped in the grabbed land.
He said that the application made to Administrator of Comunidade against the illegal construction and similar application to the village panchayat fetched no response, indicating the depth of the nexus.
“Like Vilas Methar case, we fear that we may also be burnt to death for exposing this scam, which runs into crores of rupees. The government should give us protection,” Shirodkar claimed.
