CANACONA: After 11 candidates withdrew their candidature from the fray for Canacona Municipal elections, 31 are left out of which 12 will form the new council.
The Returning Officer after the time for withdrawals elapsed released a list of 31 candidates with symbol to contest the elections on 20th of this month.

As expected, 11 candidates withdrew from the fray. From Ward No. 1 (Nagarcem) Hemant Naik Goankar ex-vice chairperson who is allotted Aeroplane symbol is having a straight fight with Ranganath Naik Goankar, who is allotted Cupboard as his symbol.
With Hemant Gracias and Prarthana Naik Gaonkar withdrawing their nominations, Ward No. 2 (Chaudi) will witness a straight fight between Ramakant Naik Goankar (Cupboard), who is a ex-chairperson and Levino Gracias (Aeroplane).
Ward No. 3 (Delem-1) reserved for women also has two contestants Supriya Dessai (Aeroplane) and Jayashree Shet (Cupboard).
Ward No. 4 (Delem-2 or Mastimol), outgoing councillor Kishore Shet (Cupboard) and ex-vice chairperson are locking horns against Pandurang Naik Gaonkar (Aeroplane).
Ward No. 5 Kindlem reserved for OBC women has two candidates Amita Pagi (Aeroplane) and Roshan Pagi (Cupboard).
Ward No. 6 (Ponsulem) reserved for OBC has a four cornered fight between Gilbert Feliciano Fernandes (Aeroplane), Wilson Francisco Fernandes (Doll), Narciso Salvador Fernandes (Cupboard) and Ajay Kushali Gosavi (Ball).
Ward No. 7 (Rajbagh) has a three cornered fight between ex-chairperson Ratnakar Dhuri (Aeroplane), Rajesh Naik (Doll) and Chandu Gandesh Madgaonka (Cupboard).
Ward No. 8 (Patnem) has five contestants which include Sopan Dhuri (Aeroplane), outgoing councillor and former vice chairperson Maruti Komarpant (Cupboard), Shubam Komarpant (Doll), Shekar Murari Naik (Ball) and Ashok Shankar Pagui (Camera).
Ward No. 9 (Bhagatwada) reserved for women has a straight fight between former chairperson Nitu Dessai (Cupboard) and Sanija Desai (Aeroplane).
Ward No. 10 (Palolem 1) the two contestants are ex-chairperson Mario Simon Rebello (Cupboard) and outgoing councillor Dayanand Pagi (Aeroplane).
Ward No. 11 (Devabhag) reserved for women has contestants Sharmila Dinkar Dessai (Aeroplane) and Sara Shamba Naik Dessai (Cupboard).
Ward No. 12 (Palolem 2) the candidates are ex-chairperson Divakar Pagi (Aeroplane), Kanay Anant Pagui (Cupboard) and Laxuman Pagui (Doll).
