SPs asked to file ATR on matka

PANJIM: The High Court of Bombay at Goa has directed both District Superintendents of Police to submit affidavits detailing action taken to curb matka in the State.

The court is hearing a petition by activist Kashinath Shetye and others alleging that the police are hand in glove with matka racketeers, as a result of which the illegal activity is mushrooming.
The notices, issued on Tuesday, are returnable next month when the court re-opens after vacation. The bench had earlier issued notices to Panjim police on corruption allegations.
