MARGAO: The Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB) has issued a show cause notice to the owner of Pearls Marina De Santacruz, Cavelossim with regard to causing destruction of environment by discharging sewage directly in the River Sal and also for not submitting the mandatory NOC from the village panchayat to operate the business.
The GSPCB in an order dated November 11 has given 15 days time to reply to the show cause notice or the Board will initiate stringent legal action under the Water (Prevention and Controlof Pollution) Act, 1974.
The order stated that one Oswald Fernandes had filed a complaint before the GSPCB seeking to inspect the Khazan land bearing Survey Number 3/1-A, 150/6,7,8,9 of Village Cavelossim for destruction of the environment by discharging sewage directly in River Sal.
After the inspection, it was found that the concerned party that is the owner of Pearls Marina De Santacruz did not obtain NOC from the village panchayat for both the survey numbers.
