“Every year, the water is released for irrigation. This year we had to release water 15 days before the scheduled day, which is November 25. Everyday, 19 hectares of water will be released from the dam. Despite less water in the dam, we think that if proper planning is done, the water will satisfy the needs of all,” said Mandrekar.
This is the first time since 1987 that the water level in the dam has not reached the 93.2 mts level. Presently, the level is about 91 mts. “We need to be serious about this and steps should be taken to restrict seepage and wastage of water,” said opposition leader Pratapsingh Rane.
