Parsekar’s maiden budget on Wednesday

PANJIM: Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar will present his first annual budget for the fiscal year 2015-16 in the Goa Legislative Assembly on Wednesday. The over 200-page budget speech will be made available in three languages – English, Konkani and Marathi.

The Business Advisory Committee chaired by Speaker Rajendra Arlekar tabled its first report on day-one of the Budget session on Monday, which mentions legislative business, financial business as well as day-to-day business of the House till Friday, when the ninth session comes to an end.
Meanwhile, the government laid the Contingency Fund (Amendment) Ordinance, 2015 on the table besides three crucial bills – The Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Settlement (Goa Amendment) Bill, 2015; The Indian Stamp (Goa Amendment) Bill, 2015; and The Goa Panchayat Raj (Amendment) Bill, 2015 were also mentioned. The annual reports of different departments were also tabled in the House. 
The Assembly on Monday passed a congratulatory motion complimenting veteran freedom fighter, journalist and litterateur Lambert Mascarenhas, for being conferred the prestigious Gomant Vibhushan and Padma Shri Award.
Speaker Rajendra Arlekar made obituary references to former union minister Murli Deora, veteran actor Deven Varma, Konkani writer Dr Madhavi Sardesai, legendary jurist and former Supreme Court Judge Justice V R Krishna Iyer, Konkani litterateur JB Moraes among others.
