PANJIM: The Goa unit of the Congress congratulated newly elected INC President Rahul Gandhi and said that new and young blood will take the party to new heights.
Congress on Monday evening announced Rahul Gandhi as the new party president. He was elected unopposed.
“Pradesh Congress Committee and Congress Legislative Party congratulate Rahul Gandhi and wish him all the luck and offer support to take the party to a greater height,” Leader of the Opposition Chandrakant Kavlekar said.
Kavlekar and State Congress president Shantaram Naik will attend the function on December 16, when Rahul will take over the reins from his mother Sonia Gandhi. Kavlekar said that under Rahul’s leadership, the party will see more new and young faces working to build it up.
Asked whether he would like to see a young leader taking over as State president post, Kavlekar answered, “Leader can be young even from heart and thoughts not just by age.”
