PONDA: Priol BJP on Thursday demanded the resignation of MGP MLA and Factory and Boiler Minister Deepak Dhavalikar for reportedly speaking against the amendment passed to Tenancy Act, even as Dhavalikar claimed that he only expressed views of the expert committee.
Addressing a news conference at Ponda, former BJP MLA Vishwas Satarkar, Priol BJP Block Committee President Satish Madkaikar and BJP North Goa executive member Vinay Gaonkar claimed that Deepak Dhavalikar is speaking against tenancy amendment through press stating that the amendment will affect tenants and Mundkars.
“He is part and parcel of the government. He should obey the Cabinet decision and should not doubt on it and speak in public. The main aim of the amendment is to provide the tenants and Mundkars the land as per original Tenancy Act,” said Satarkar.
“When Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar has promised people that the government will remove any shortcomings in the Tenancy Act, then it is not right on the part of Dhavalikar to make such statement to create confusion in the minds of the people,” added Satarkar.
When contacted, Minister Deepak Dhavalikar said he has not spoken anything wrong against the government and the BJP members, who addressed the media, did not understand his statement.
“My party had appointed a special expert committee to study the effects of the amendment on tenants and Mundkars. The committee submitted report stating that it will harm tenants. This part was discussed with former chief minister Manohar Parrikar and also with Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar,” said Dhavalikar.
“I only spoke about the committee report. A lot of tenants and Mundkars from MGP constituencies of Ponda and Marcaim have complained to me about the ill effect of the Act. I have not spoken anything wrong against the government and I will collectively participate with the government to discuss and sort out the issue,” he said.
