MARGAO: District authorities have decided to put in place a slew of measures for the India Super League semi-final match at the Nehru Stadium in Fatorda scheduled next week and also ensure transparency in the sale of tickets at the counter and online.
At a meeting chaired by District Collector Venancio Furtado, it has been decided that tickets will be on sale for two days at the stadium in Fatorda and the swimming pool at Campal on December 13-14. One person will be entitled for only three tickets at the counter, while two tickets will be issued per person online, informed the District Collector.
The authorities have decided to follow the system adopted during the Lusofonia games inaugural and closing ceremonies.
Besides, the SAG ground outside the Nehru Stadium, it has been decided to rope in the SGPDA parking ground as well as the SGPDA pick-up stand for vehicular parking during the match. “This time, parking arrangements will be made at the SGPDA ground, PDA pick-up stand, Ravindra Bhavan, besides the SAG complex and the stadium,” the Collector said.
To avoid inconveniences to local residents staying in and around the Nehru Stadium, it has been decided to issue passes to them to ensure their free movement on the roads leading to the stadium.
Venancio said the authorities have also decided to divert heavy traffic plying around the stadium on the day of the match between 5 pm and 7 pm to avoid congestion. “Executive magistrates will be deployed at all the stadium gates with adequate police force”, he added.
The issue over the entry of VVIP vehicles inside the stadium with people without tickets also figured at the meeting. The Collector said that gate No 1 of the stadium will be kept open only for vehicles, while the VVIPs will have to make entry from gate No 2 for the semi final match.
