Multiple explosions were reported in Iran’s capital, Tehran, on Sunday after the Israeli military carried out a new wave of airstrikes targeting what it described as key installations of the Iranian regime. The strikes come a day after a major joint operation reportedly conducted by Israel and the United States.
According to a statement issued by the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF), the attacks were aimed at strategic sites in central Tehran as part of an ongoing military campaign. “The IDF is striking targets that belong to the Iranian terror regime in the heart of Tehran. Over the past day, the Israeli Air Force conducted large-scale strikes in order to establish aerial superiority and to pave the path to Tehran,” the statement said.

Explosions were heard particularly in northern parts of the city, with reports indicating that the affected area includes a neighborhood housing Iran’s police headquarters as well as offices linked to state television, according to the Associated Press.
Videos circulating online showed a large plume of smoke rising into the sky from a building following one of the blasts. Further details on damage or casualties were not immediately available.
The latest strikes mark a significant escalation in tensions, with the situation in the region continuing to develop rapidly.
