PANJIM: The deadlock between the AIMTC and the Goa government continued with the maximum opposition stemming from Belgaum, even as vegetables continued to arrive in the state through a trickling in of supplies that ensured there was no shortage.
Despite the state relying on the neighbouring areas for vegetables, chicken, eggs and milk it was only vegetable supplies that were mostly affected over the five days of the strike. With most of the horticulture corporation’s trucks making it into the state, the efficacy of the strike has not really been felt. Meanwhile, it is unlikely that the strike will end anytime soon with the PWD’s proposal of a monthly pass only reducing the amount by 25-30 per cent is yet to be accepted by the government.
