PANJIM: Congress party has claimed that land given to the Valens
Education Society by the Chicalim Communidade in July 2016 is illegal and
demanded to stop the said illegal construction of work which is been carried
out presently.
Speaking to reporters Avinash Tavares, Goa Pradesh Congress
Committee Spokesperson said that Valen Education Society who runs Edify School
in Mangoor in Mormugao is a profit making organization and it violates the
model code of Communidade of Goa.

He said that the South Goa Communidade has given land
admeasuring 15512 sq mtrs was given to the Valens Education Society in the year
2016. But the Communidade code doesn’t allow of any such land to be given to
profit making organization.
“Communidade land is used only for public purpose and utility,
Valens Education Society is a profit making society that runs Edify School,” he
said.
He alleged that the Communidade of Chicalim is running under
influence of Mauvin Godinho and the Edify School which is presently operated
from premises owned by Godinho. He said that the property is in the name of
Godinho’s mother.
He also said that proposed school is being built in a radius
of less than half a kilometer from three major aviation turbine fuel tank
cluster belonging to Hindustan Petroleum, Bharat Petroleum Corporation and
reliance Aviation. He said that the distance between aviation and the proposed
school is just 500 meters which is very dangerous incase of any explosive
impact.
