PANJIM: Google held a one-day “Solve for India” programme at the Goa Chambers of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) in which about 40 people participated.
The event was part of the Google’s initiatives which encompasses about 16 cities in the country. The idea is to identify and pick those start-ups from Goa, which shows signs of scaling up, mentor them and then finally help them sort out issues which are technically challenging for them.
“We have done 40-50 hours of mentorship and by the end of the programme in each of these 16 cities. We will be doing about 1000 hours of mentorship at the end of this programme and the data collected will be phenomenal. We are also learning through interaction. In November we will be hosting a two-week boot camp in Bengaluru, with the curated list of start-ups across India. The data collected will help the start-ups solve their problems in that boot camp,” said Karthik Padmanabhan, Developer Relations Lead, Google India.
“The boot camp will have a look of a clinic where each stations will be manned by a set of experts advising each start-ups on their problems by providing solution,” said Mridula Mallya, social media communication manager, Google India.
When asked whether Goa is being looked at as an IT destination, the representatives from Google India said that, “Surely, Goa is now making its presence felt in the IT sector.” Director of Androcid, Prajyot Mainkar played a key role in setting up this “Solve for India” programme in Goa.
