PANJIM: Goa government has sanctioned 448 compassionate appointments out of 760 which were pending since 2007. Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar on Wednesday handed over 44 appointment letters to candidates who were shortlisted. He said the rest will be sanctioned shortly and remaining will be handed over appointments soon.
Speaking at a function at Porvorim, the Chief Minister urged the candidates, who will be joining government service within a month in different departments, not to indulge in corrupt practices.
The Chief Minister also announced that the income limit will be increased to Rs 2.50 lakh from Rs 2 lakh.
Compassionate appointments in government service is a way by which the government issues appointments on the basis of compassion to dependant family members of a government servant who dies in harness or who retired on medical grounds, thereby leaving his or her family without any means of livelihood.
