AAI team to inspect Dabolim airport daily: Ashok Raju

MARGAO: Airport Authority of India (AAI) has constituted a team that will conduct daily inspections of Dabolim airport terminal, Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju stated in a letter to South Goa MP Narendra Sawaikar.

“I have been informed by AAI that the incident of collapse of false ceiling occurred due to problems associated with condensation of water from air-conditioning system of the ceiling. AAI has taken up restoration work and entire restoration was done within five days,” Raju said in the letter. The letter came following the July 23 collapse of the false ceiling at Dabolim airport.
Raju added, “Further, AAI has constituted a safety team of five AAI officers for inspection on daily routine and for conducting safety related checks and undertaking preventive measures. AAI has also constituted an inter-disciplinary team from Central headquarters to inspect the terminal building and to examine in detail the cause of falling of collapse ceiling.”
The minister said that AAI has informed him that continuous efforts are being made to provide more facilities and also to improve the maintenance of the new terminal building.
