The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) on Saturday reimposed GRAP Stage IV across Delhi-NCR after air quality deteriorated into the ‘severe’ category. The move came just a day after GRAP-III was enforced as a precautionary step, with pollution levels continuing to rise across the region. GRAP-IV had earlier been withdrawn in late December. According to CAQM, Stage IV is triggered when the Air Quality Index crosses 450, entering the ‘severe+’ range. The commission clarified that measures under Stages I, II and III will continue as per the revised GRAP notified on November 21, 2025. Under Stage IV, private vehicle movement is not fully banned, but restrictions are imposed based on emission standards. BS-III petrol and BS-IV diesel vehicles are barred, except those involved in essential services.
