PONDA: A resident of Patantali, Bandora was cheated to the tune of Rs 28,000 after he shared his one time password (OTP) with a fraudster.

According to the complaint filed at Ponda Police Station, the youth who works at the Verna Industrial Estate had planned to buy a washing machine and hence called the customer care centre of his bank but he did not receive any response from the bank.
However, a few minutes later he received a call claiming to be from the bank’s customer care centre. The unknown person asked the youth to pay an advance of Rs 2,000 through Google Pay and also asked to share his OTP.
After some time he received a message on his mobile from his bank informing that he had withdrawn Rs 26,000 following which he was shocked and realised that he was cheated after sharing the OTP.
