BICHOLIM: Bicholim Police on Thursday arrested an accused on charges of murdering his co-worker at a farmhouse at Dodamarg-Bicholim.
Acting on a tip-off, police laid a trap at Collem and arrested Amal (25) from Jarkhand. “The accused was about to flee from the area but we laid the trap and arrested him. The accused has confessed his crime and has been arrested under Sections 302, 201 IPC,” informed PI Neenad Devulkar.
Police said the motive behind the murder was jealousy as the deceased, John, had reportedly won the favour of the farmhouse owner, while the accused was always asked to do all the daily chores from the room.
On the night of the murder, there was an argument over this between the two workers and in the ensuing altercation, Amal allegedly killed John on Tuesday. Amal later dumped the body in a ditch, police said.
PI Devulkar along with PSI Gaurish Parab, Razashad Shaikh and Nilesh Fogeri were part of the operations to nab the accused.
