VASCO: BJP candidate for Sancoale Zilla seat Anita Thorat was elected unopposed on Saturday.
After Thorat was declared elected unopposed, Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho said, “This victory is a clear cut indication of that BJP has the strong support of the people.”
“The unopposed victory of BJP candidate Anita Thorat has shown that the BJP has strengthened its roots in Mormugao taluka and this message has gone to the entire State,” he said.
Godinho further said that the Zilla victory is evidence that people have completely accepted the BJP and it is there to stay for long. “This party has become so strong that the opponents didn’t even turn up for filing nomination,” he quipped.
Meanwhile, Godinho informed that he has extended his support to an independent candidate in Cortalim constituency.
On the occasion, Thorat said that the credit for her victory goes to Godinho. “He has been tirelessly working for the people and therefore, Godinho has been elected for six times,” she said.
