CANACONA: The Canacona Ravindra Bhavan project contractor has allegedly dumped soil extracted from the foundation site in a sweet water pond used by farmers to irrigate their farm lands in the vicinity.
On receiving a complaint, a joint inspection was carried out by the deputy collector, mamlatdar, and others on Saturday evening.
After the inspection, the deputy collector instructed the contractor to restore the water body to its original state, also to build a retaining wall between Ravindra Bhawan and the water body, and also to put up a board at the site giving details of the construction. When this reporter went to the site, the work for restoration of the pond had already started.
