Change in guard at Mapusa civic body soon

“In the next few days, I will hold a joint meeting of the councillors and the municipal administration to review the work in Mapusa Constituency,” said the Mapusa MLA Joshua D’Souza.

MAPUSA: There will be a change in guard at the Mapusa Municipal Council as a new chairperson and vice chairperson would take over from their predecessors.

It may be recalled that the civic chiefs are elected on a rotational basis every year with the tacit understanding of other councillors.

“They have completed one year term and a decision on who the new civic rulers would be taken in the next 10 days by taking the BJP State president and Chief Minister into confidence,” said Mapusa MLA Joshua D’Souza.

“In Mapusa, we have our 13-member panel and two other councillors have supported us. It was decided to give one year term for the chairperson and vice chairperson as we have senior members with us. The names are yet to be finalised and a decision will be taken by the party. A new chief officer has taken charge and his work is being appreciated by the councillors,” Joshua said.
