MARGAO: Ravindra Bhavan Margao in collaboration with Directorate of Official Language, Government of Goa and Konknni Bhasha Mandal will organize the second Bal Sahitya Parishad (Children’s Literary Conference) on September 7 and 8 at Ravindra Bhavan and books for children from across the country in English, Hindi, Konkani and Marathi will also be exhibited.
The conference will be inaugurated on September 7, at 9.45 am by Rajesh Joshi noted Sahitya Akademi Award winner from Bhopal and he will also deliver the key note address after releasing some children’s literature books.
The inaugural function will be followed by the first session which will be on “Reading Material for Children: Content, Context and Contemporary Compulsions.” Sahitya Akademi Award Winner from Bhopal Swayam Prakash, renowned writer and critic from Goa Dr Kiran Budkuley and renowned children’s writer from Bhopal Sushil Shukla will participate in this discussion.
The second session that will commence at 2.30 pm will be on “Reading patterns to develop Local, National and Global Knowledge and Awareness in Children where M S Madhavan renowned writer from Kerala, Jose Lourenco renowned writer from Goa and Jerry Pinto Sahitya Akademi Award winner from Mumbai will share their thoughts on the topic.
The second session will be followed by an audio visual presentation of children’s literature titled Ghumche Katarr Theatre produced by Ravindra Bhavan in collaboration with Flamingo Theatre aimed at promoting reading.
On September 8, there will be a session titled “Ideal Children’s Literature – The Way Forward” where Dr Sonika Kaushik renowned educationist from NCERT New Delhi, Dr Prakash Parienkar Sahitya Akademi Award Winner from Goa and Mrs Taposhi Ghoshal well known illustrator from New Delhi will guide the participant.
The second session will be on “Means and Mediums to take children’s literature to children” where Geeta Ramanujam renowned storyteller from Bangalore, Geetanali Klkarni well thatre artiste from Mumbai and Sujata Noronha storyteller from Goa will participate.
Besides there will be a special interactive session at the end of the sessions where participants can clarify any doubts or ask any question regarding all the four sessions. A special illustrators’ workshop will also be conducted on the sidelines of the conference with students of Goa College of Arts participating.
Chairman of Ravindra Bhavan Prashant Naik said they expected around 1000 participants and urged people, especially the teachers, to participate in the conference as the best talent from the country will be descending in Goa to share their thoughts.
Konkani Bhasha Mandal Chairman Chetan Acharya announced that the awards of the writing contests they had organized for monologues, short stories and nursery rhymes will also be given on September 9, at the concluding function.
