Churchill backs Michael, Vijai on Dr Jack statue

MARGAO: Benaulim MLA Churchill Alemao has extended his support to Michael Lobo and Vijai Sardessai in moving a resolution for erecting a statue of Dr Jack Sequeira at Goa Assembly Complex.
Churchill was speaking at the celebration of Opinion Poll anniversary that he hosted at his Varca office on Wednesday evening. The Benaulim MLA along with former MLA Adv Radharao Gracias and other local leaders felicitated 11 stalwarts of Opinion Poll who worked back in the days for an independent Goa State. The song on Opinion Poll sung by a Kantarist in olden days which was forgotten by all has been found out by Churchill and he got it sung by one of the Kantarist on the occasion. 
Speaking on the Opinion Poll, Churchill said, “When the resolution for the statue at Goa Assembly was moved by then MLA Radharao Gracias, the Congress was in power and the resolution did not receive good response which proves that the Congress is responsible for the delay.”
Churchill commended the efforts of Michael Lobo and Vijai Sardesai to move a fresh resolution for erecting a statue at the Goa Assembly complex and extended his full support for the same. 
Meanwhile, the former MLA Radharao Gracias courting controversy said, “The Catholics voted for an independent Goa and the Hindus voted for merger during Opinion Poll. However, today if we see police department there are no Catholic police in the force which is bad.”
He said that Goa needs to demand the dual citizenship for Goans, as without which Goans would lose their voting rights and non-Goans would soon decide the future of Goa through voting.
