MARGAO: Admitting that the clergy had attacked the corruption of the previous regime, Fr Eremito Rebello said the new government headed by Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar has belied the expectations of the people and linked the government to a boat drifting in the sea.
“I want to make clear that we do not say that we got the BJP elected. We attacked the corruption of the previous regime. There is no hiding that the clergy attacked the corruption and the corrupt and not the party. And, so a change was required to clean up the corrupt people,” Fr Rebello said, while replying to a query whether he is happy over the political change that was brought about in the State after the 2012 polls.
“We had high expectations that the parivartan and change, that the new government will do something new. But, we have told the ruling people that we are completely disillusioned and disappointed. We did not expect such a government, which is doing something different,” he said.
Fr Rebello said the head of the government is changing colours and people cannot understand the functioning of the government.
“He is talking something today and does something tomorrow. He is changing colours. We cannot understand where this government is heading. It looks as if the boat is drifting in the sea. We are truly disappointed with the present regime”, he added.
