PANJIM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Thursday said that no one should promote hatred over a language and condemned the blackening of Konkani signboard at Karwar, Karnataka.
Reacting to the act of the Kannada Rakshan Vedika Sanghatana activists blackening signboard written in Konkani at Karwar, bordering Goa on Wednesday, Sawant said, “People must not promote hatred for any language. They can be from Goa, Karnataka and Maharashtra. The authorities in Karnataka must take cognisance of such activities and should not permit them. They must not promote hatred for Konkani language.”

For apparently unexplained reason, the Konkani words on the signboard in Karwar were blackened on Wednesday.
Kannada Rakshan Vedika Sanghatana Pravin Shetty has now demanded that the signboards in Karnataka should be written in its State language Kannada.
Alleging that Goa revolutionary activists were harassing Kannadigas residing in Gao, Shetty has challenged them to blacken signboards written in Kannada in Goa.
