MARGAO: President of Camorlim Comunidade, Celso Dias, objected to allotting works of five comunidades to a single ‘escrivao’ or writer clerk. Since the escrivao could not attend to all comunidades at once, and hence was overburdened, many crucial works at the comunidades were held up for days or months.
All five comunidade presidents demanded a rectification of the comunidade code to enable works more efficiently.
“An escrivao was initially appointed for Verna, Nagoa and Utorda comunidade. Later he was given additional charge of Camorlim and Raia, making it a total of five comunidades. I have seen that escrivao working, and the fact is it is humanly not possible to handle so many comunidades at a time,” said Dias.
Celso informed that the escrivao attends to Nagao on Friday and the first and fifth Sundays. If he is left with any time he attends to the other
comunidades.
“Verna comunidade being a big comunidade, and lots of land acquisition for Verna Industrial Estate, has increased the work for the escrivao, leaving him with no time to attend to other comunidades,”
said Dias.
He also expressed the need to amend the Code of Comunidades that allowed allotment of many comunidades to
one worker.
