MARGAO: The 10-day deadline served on the 42 residents of Talsanzor to raze down their illegal structures expired on Monday, but the office of South Goa Administrator of Comunidades maintained a stoic silence over the next course of action.
Comunidade Administrator Sangeeta Naik was not available for comment on the future course of action as the 10-day deadline on the residents to demolish the structures expired today.
Sources in the know, however, said the staff of the Comunidade Administrator’s office also appeared a confused lot over the stand the Administrator would adopt on the Talsanzor structures in view of the Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar’s assurance to the beleaguered residents that his government will not throw anyone on the streets.
“The Chief Minister’s assurance to the residents has thrown all plans of action against the illegal structures haywire. There are also no clear directions from the government whether to keep the demolition exercise on hold,” remarked a Comunidade official.
The Chief Minister while promising to protect the interests of all those who have inhabited the land for 20 years had on September 6 told some of the residents during his visit to Fatorda that he would discuss the matter threadbare after Ganesh Chathurti festivities.
Incidentally, while Parrikar had handed out the assurance to the residents on September 6 morning, officials of the Comunidade Administrator had descended atop Talsanzor hillock the same evening to serve the demolition notices.
