PANJIM: The opposition Congress party on Friday condemned the demolition of kiosks and stalls outside the Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Bambolim and expressed its solidarity to the affected vendors.
Goa Pradesh Youth Congress Committee (GPYCC) president Adv Varad Mardolkar said that the government by demolishing kiosks has affected the livelihood of the Goan vendors. The government has failed to provide employment to unemployed youth and had become insensitive, he said.

Reacting to the Chief Minister’s statement that he had instructed the deputy collector and sub-divisional officer (SDO) not to demolish kiosks and stalls and that he misunderstood him, Adv Mardolkar demanded that the government should immediately initiate stern action against the deputy collector and (SDO) for not following the chief minister’s instructions.
The GPYCC also demanded immediate relocation of kiosks and stall owners and to give them compensation since the authorities did not allow them to remove their perishable goods.
Adv Mardolkar also demanded to know whether the government will use the same yardstick and demolish illegal structures that have sprouted across the State.
