According to Police, Soni, a resident of Aquem and native of MP, was caught accepting bets over his mobile phone of a cricket match being played between Melbourne Stars and Sydney Thunders in Australian Big Bash Cricket League.
Police conducted the raid after receiving intelligence on the gambling den and seized five mobile phones, one laptop, a 32-inch LED TV and other betting material.
The incident has raised the question of how deep the betting system has embedded itself in the town.
