MARGAO: Fatorda MLA and Deputy Chief Minister Vijai Sardesai on Wednesday pledged to revitalise all important lakes and springs in Fatorda area.
As a part of that effort, the minister inspected the restoration work of the lake at the old market.
“The traditional sources of water which have heritage value along with the entire Old Market area has been taken up under the Old Market Revitalisation Programme through the GSIDC. This lake has a history and has to be protected,” Vijai said on the occasion.
He was apprised of the issue of seepage of water and water turning green which means there is pollution and seepage. “We will check on the phenomenon of water turning green after the rains and will take action. I have given them the order,” he said. Similarly, the work of revitalising Tolsanzor lake will also be taken up. The Daambaab Lake remains to be improved.
“I hope that Chowgule gives us the NOC for the works. I have the departments that can actually help to revive it,” Vijai said adding that these are the benefits of them being a part of the government.
