The Governing Council of Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG) has rejected the proposal to route all event management activities of all Government departments through the society.
The proposal in this regard was moved by the ESG Chief Executive Office Manoj Srivastava who wanted the Council’s approval so that all event management activities of Government departments could be routed through the ESG.
The members of the Council felt that the ESG should first set its house in order and have proper manpower to organise its own events successfully.
The Council also rejected the proposal to provide financial assistance to non-Goan film makers to the tune of Rs 10 lakh.
It is now decided that a special scheme should be modulated and put before the Council.
In another decision, the Governing Council directed the internal auditor of the ESG to examine all aspects of the tender awarded to M/s Omkar Melodies for undertaking various works during IFFI 2009.
The CEO had put before the Governing Council a proposal to pay M/s Omkar Melodies an additional amount of approximately Rs 10 lakh towards various works such as illumination of trees, supply of computer tables, sound system and so on.
The Council members pointed out that all additional claims of M/s Omkar Melodies had already been cleared and hence there was no reason to entertain any of its additional claims.
It may be recalled that some of reputed contractors from Panjim had filed complaints with the ESG with regards to the sub-standard works carried out by the particular contractor agency.
They had also pointed out various discrepancies in work execution in relation to the tender specification.
