VASCO: Taking cognisance of series of Herald reports highlighting the bad road conditions in Vasco, the PWD finally commenced the work of filling up the potholes in the port town on Wednesday.
Labourers were seen filling up the potholed roads in Vasco with concrete.
A PWD official informed that around Rs 3 lakh are likely to be spent on the road patch work in the town.
It may be recalled that Herald published series of news reports highlighting the bad condition of the roads which had led to traffic congestion and fatal accidents in the port town.
Pandurang Naik, PWD Assistant Engineer (Roads Division) Vasco, informed that the potholed roads are filled with concrete. Around Rs 3 lakh will be spent on the repair work.
When asked at to how the earlier road work got washed away, Naik said the patch work was done before Saptah with rubble soling and cold asphalt and got washed away due to heavy rains.
He admitted to having received cuttings of the news reports on the potholed roads in the town and following this they have initiated the work as there is no heavy rainfall in these days”.
