MARGAO: The Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC) has received eight bids for the district hospital project.
Urban Development Minister Francisco D’Souza said that they had short-listed and finalized five bids from the total of eight they had received. He added that the GSDIC would begin the process of opening the financial bids by the end of July and that the work on the district hospital should commence by August 15.
The issue of the hospital was raised by Navelim MLA and Salcete’s lone minister Avertano Furtado who had earlier intervened and asked the GSDIC to look into the deplorable conditions at Hospicio Hospital.
While the GSDIC and the government’s stance regarding Hospicio has always been that the new district hospital was the answer, the government has been under heavy criticism for keeping the project pending for the last 3 years.
