Gaping holes in changing room at Colva beach

The Tourism Department, which has unveiled a plan to attract tourists to Goa in a big way, is caught napping at the Colva beach, with women complaining of gaping holes in the changing room.
Women visitors to the beach complained that it’s difficult to find hard a changing room on the Colva beach frequented by thousands of people every day. And, the only structure used by women as a changing room has a gaping hole, leaving many a woman using the structure embarrassed.
That the changing room used mostly by women tourists for changing clothes after a swim was found to be having big holes has not gone down well with the women. “Goans take pride of our hospitality, but here is a case where women are forced to change clothes in a structure with big holes”, cried local activist Judith Almeida.
She said it is indeed a disgrace that the Tourism department and the Minister, who hails from the constituency, has not bothered to put in a place a safe a changing room for women. “We are appalled with the government’s functioning. Is the Tourism Minister visiting the beach and seeing for himself what is happening around. Why the women and other tourists still don’t get a decent changing room on the beach. It is shameful”, she added.
Incidentally, one hardly finds any changing rooms along Salcete’s coastline, leaving not only the tourists embarrassed, but even Goans who frequent to the beach for a bath during the summer vacation. Either the visitors are forced to take cover under the trees of fend for themselves in the absence of any changing rooms along the coast.
