MARGAO: The Fatorda police on Saturday arrested six persons under the Goa Gambling Act as they were found gambling and conducting on line betting activities in a house near BM service station at Borda. Amongst those arrested are an employee of Goa Cricket Association and three students.
Police arrested Sanveer Mohammad (43) who is the owner of the house where the gambling was carried on. Akshay Naik (25), a resident of Gogol, who was arrested for gambling is employed by the Goa Cricket Association.
Brajen Kumar Sarkar (33), a resident of Madel, Margao was the third arrested. The three students arrested are all aged 21 years, all are residents of Sao Jose de Areal and all are students of Government College Quepem namely Harion Kashyap, Vinod Kumar and Irfan Khan.
Police also seized four computers, one CPU, one laptop and eight mobile phones along with cash amounting to Rs 8,300 from the six.
