MARGAO: Ex-MLA Mickky Pacheco said he was supporting the tourist taxi owners particularly those from his village and constituency and demanded that the State government issue an ordinance exempting installation of speed governors for tourists taxis and further asserted that the Goa government was within its rights to do so.
“Goa is a small state of touristic importance that brings so much of foreign remittances to the country through the various tourists coming to the State,” he said adding that this was sufficient reason for the State government to issue an ordinance even if it was the central government policy to install speed governors.
“Nowhere in the world are speed governors used to regulate speed he said adding that instead the government should install cameras to track down speeding vehicles as done worldwide,” he said.
